Bough Privacy Policy

Bough is built on one principle: your recovery is yours, and it stays on your phone. We have no servers that store your check-ins, your notes, your medications, your symptom checks, your screening answers, or your scar photos. There is no account and no login. We can’t sell what we don’t have.

This policy covers the Bough: C-Section Care iOS app only. The Alibee LLC website has its own separate privacy policy, and our other apps have theirs.

Who we are

Bough is published by Alibee LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”), a New York company. If you have privacy questions, email us at [email protected]. General questions can go to [email protected].

What data we collect — and where it lives

Data you enter

Everything you type or tap into Bough is stored only on your device, using Apple’s SwiftData framework. That includes:

• your profile — a name if you choose to give one, your surgery date, and the delivery details you share during setup, including sensitive circumstances you may choose to tell us about (a NICU stay, a complex delivery, recovering without help, or the loss of your baby) so the app can show you the right things and leave out the wrong ones;
• daily checklist ticks and any recovery values you log — bleeding stage, bowel status, mobility, and fatigue;
• medications you log, their doses, and any dose reminders you set;
• notes you write;
• symptom checks — the symptoms you selected, the day of recovery you were on, the guidance tier the app showed you, and whether you used the emergency call button, kept as your own record and for the visit summary you can export;
• mood check-ins — your answers and totals;
• sensation and numbness entries;
• scar photos and the notes you attach to them;
• your care team’s name and phone number, if you add them;
• your theme choice.

None of it leaves your phone unless you choose to export or share it. There is no upload, no sync, and no backup to us.

Your scar photos

Photos you take in Bough are stored inside the app’s own storage, not your camera roll. iOS encrypts the app’s storage at rest with protection tied to your device passcode, so a locked or powered-off phone won’t give the files up. Photos are never analyzed, scored, or sent anywhere — the healing timelapse is assembled on your screen from your own photos and nothing more. The camera is used only when you take a photo; choosing one from your library uses Apple’s picker, which hands Bough only the photo you pick.

Your care team

If you add your provider’s number from Contacts, Bough uses Apple’s system contact picker, which runs outside the app. Bough never gets access to your contacts database and needs no contacts permission — it receives only the single name and number you tap, which is then stored on your device like everything else. Typing the number in works the same way.

Calls and crisis lines

Emergency, crisis, and provider numbers (911, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, the Postpartum Support International HelpLine, and the provider number you added) open your phone’s own calling or messaging app with the number filled in. Bough places no call and sends no message on its own, and those actions involve no data sent by Bough.

App Lock

If you turn on App Lock in Settings, Bough asks iOS to verify you with Face ID or your device passcode before it opens. Bough never sees your face or your passcode — iOS performs the check and tells Bough only whether it succeeded. No biometric data is available to us, ever.

Notifications

All reminders are scheduled locally on your device — dose reminders you set yourself, and gentle check-in reminders on a published cadence across your first year. There are no push notifications; Bough has no server to send them. Reminders are quiet between 10pm and 7am, with one exception: a dose reminder you set fires when you asked it to, because an overnight medication reminder that waits for morning isn’t one.

Analytics and crash reporting

Bough contains no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or crash-reporting SDKs — none at all. It has no third-party dependencies whatsoever, does not use the advertising identifier, and never asks to track you. If you have turned on “Share With App Developers” in iOS Settings, Apple may share anonymized, aggregated statistics with us through App Store Connect; that sharing is controlled entirely by Apple and that setting, never identifies you, and contains nothing you entered in the app.

What we do not collect

• We do not transmit your entries, your screening answers, or your photos to any server — ours or anyone’s.
• We do not use advertising networks, and we never sell your data or share it with data brokers.
• We do not build advertising or marketing profiles of you.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not sync anything to iCloud.
• We never diagnose you, score your photos, or compute anything about your health that you didn’t enter yourself. Bough is informational only and is not a medical device.

The only things that ever leave your device are the calls and messages you place through your own phone apps, whatever you deliberately export and share, and your App Store purchase — each described in this policy.

Purchases

Bough is distributed by Apple — through TestFlight during beta, and as a one-time App Store purchase at launch. Any payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never see your payment information. No feature is gated — there is no subscription, and safety features are never behind anything.

Children’s privacy

Bough is designed for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 — and by design, we collect no data at all.

Data export and deletion

Export. You choose when anything leaves. Bough can produce:

• a plain-text copy of everything the app holds, from Settings — written to be readable by you or handed to a provider;
• a visit summary from the Log tab, as a PDF or text — your symptom timeline, mood history, medications, and scar photos, with each section a toggle you control and the return-to-work section off by default.

Every export is handed to the iOS share sheet, where you decide the destination. Bough never uploads an export anywhere.

Delete. Settings → “Delete all my data” removes every record Bough keeps — your profile, check-ins, notes, medications, symptom checks, mood history, sensation entries, care team contact, and scar photos — and cancels your scheduled reminders. Because everything lives on your device, deletion is immediate and permanent: we have no copy to delete on our end. Two device preferences deliberately survive — your theme and your App Lock setting — because they describe your phone, not your recovery. Deleting the app removes everything on the device outright.

Your device’s own backups

Bough’s database lives in the app’s private container on your iPhone, so it is included in your device’s own encrypted backups — iCloud Backup, or a backup to your computer — under your Apple account and your control. That is Apple’s system backing up your phone, not a copy to us: we cannot read it, and restoring it is yours to do. You can manage what your device backs up in iOS Settings.

Your consent

By setting up and using Bough, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to this Privacy Policy.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes — for example, if an optional backup feature is ever added — we will update the effective date and policy version above, and the app’s own privacy summary will say so plainly before anything about the app’s behavior changes. Continued use of Bough after a policy update constitutes acceptance.
